It’s very easy to leave the hustle and bustle of everyday life today and step back in time to a slower, more gentle pace. The creaking of the sails and oak cogs as the beautifully restored Bursledon Windmill grinds wheat to reward you with bags of flour to take home, or the quietly crumbling ruins of the 13^th century Netley Abbey, a peaceful haven where Jane Austen used to sit and gather inspiration for her writing.

Throughout the Hamble Valley there is a plethora of pubs, traditional tea rooms and sophisticated restaurants offering good, homemade fresh food and speciality dishes. Many of the attractions have their own tea rooms where you can rest your feet and enjoy a cup of tea or snack. Alternatively, pack up your own picnic or book a barbecue at one of the country parks and cook yourself a feast.
